Sailing Yacht Wildcard is retiring

Sailing Yacht Wildcard is decommissioned... retiring ..
Retired

or at least quite a sabbatical ..

1- too many holes, hull fucked

All 82 holes (red) numbered, blue dots 'bad' but no holes so far..
I copied the holes 2 inside map, with stringers 0-17 as help..
so clear inside totally for inspection, treatment and then weld inside and outside
is what doctor orders..

2. mast fucked.. no mast=no sails, what 2 do with 'old sails'..
3. engine fucked ..

I think I'll still empty the boat inside etc for if any future revival attempts

Only then when there is a view on a mast,
The hull can be sandblasted and when we found all 85 (+3 to day)
so probably well above 100 holes... welded from the inside and outside..
The integrity of the hull/structure has not been compromised.. plenty strong build .. According to James Callum, alu connoisseur, the boat has been spot welded before
and he also talks about delamination of the aluminum ..
I believe that delamination causes holes/bubbles in alu, which in turn causes corrosion.

This boat was first sailing in 94,
apparently the Alu nowadays used for marine purposes is better..

Still have 2 do something with 14x3.8m of alu, 21.25m of mast and 6.95m boom,

1.6-3.3m Liftkeel with plenty weight in partly stainless steel bulp
still working fine..

Hully Shit... phoe

Have now numbered 82 holes in Wildcards bottom....
Saturday 11.00 James McCallum, the big boss of the repair company www.asiatmi.com
comes by himself..
From Australia.. maybe he knows Wildcard, and give live saving advice 4 Wildcard,
but otherwise it gets more and more difficult..

Another 2-part mast (transport technical) with 2 spreaders and back stay, no runners
is needed
now that the old mast has been definitively retired.

Jason Corall and Nick Goodwood... mast assessment as per today....
Looks like the mast is unsuitable for use.
Many cracks and weak points,
massive repairs needed and in our opinion,
far under-spec for the yacht, are some of the reasons we outlined for retiring this mast.

We will look into quotes on a new two piece mast

So:

 Stability Curves: http://www.radford-yacht.com/dsn036/dsn036ara.html

The mast is 21.25m long,
roughly 1.95m from bottom 2 deck,
and 2.95 to the bottom of the connection for the 6.95 long boom..

If we find something, with an affordable sail garderobe if possible, I would like 2 see if the furler can go below deck etcetc..
But I'm also willing 2 experiment,
I'm used to 2 race Star, no backstay, just 2 runners.. Although that was just racing around the cans for a few hours a day..
Build first Mirror dinghy for racing when 15, raced a lot of Laser, Flying Dutchman, Star, x99 etcetc

So I bought this boat purely for racing, no interior needed.. light(er)st..

etc

Cheers
