PROGRE$$..

😎😎

Drilling up the holes of 'put corrosion' to get good aluminum edged holes 2 weld on..

BTW.. This cut out part is where through hulls of toilet in front were..  Toilet is moving 2 the back,

so the through hulls in front could better be taken out..

We will close this as last because now we have a nice way 2 communicate and see each other and pass things through..  works nice..  😎

update..

 Not leaving yet....

-So all copper coat is off

- I ordered Ultrasonic thickness gauge which will be here in few days for final check if and how holes/hull Wildcard could still be fixable,

-take engine out etc

-find mast solution
-etc..

or get rid of 14m aluminum somehow...

mast length (keel stepped) W 21.25m, N19.58m.. ..  1.7m shorter
boom W 6,9m, N 4.2m..  2.7m shorter

Wildcard

Naomi
LOA 13.28m
LWL 10.59m
Beam 4.47m
Draft 2.40m
Airdraft 19.90m mast '19.58'm
Displacement 7,485kg (16,504.4lbs)

The R14m is designed to carry less than the maximum crew weight allowed under the IMS so has more inbuilt stability to carry the large fractional rig. It is very fast reaching and running, while heavy enough and with sufficient righting moments for fast windward performance - especially in fresh conditions. The point of vanishing stability (not including the positive effect of the house) is in excess of 130deg.

Is SY Wildcard 1994 Radford 14's corroded alu hull fixable with just epoxy on outside?

Is SY Wildcard 1994 Radford 14's
corroded alu hull fixable with just epoxy on outside?

So what alu alloy hull is made from I'm still trying 2 find out?

Because if it is not 5086...
then I think can repair hull with just epoxy from outside..,
provided all alu oxidation removed..
ie sandblast and etch right before epoxy?
 for good bond with epoxy

I understand only 5086 is not ok
because delaminating/exfoliation occurs .. where sheets of alu sheds..
and/or causes holes in alu where corrosion can work its way from inside out..

Please Advice..
