Last week they managed to turn it around again with 2 extra tug boats after failing with one tug week before.. Result is now sinking/grounded near beach bar Karakter... This is not over jet.... (the loading ramp is also still on the bottom of the bay.. will be interesting anchoring experience for (super)yachts there in future...

Elsewhere.. After Caribbean 'season' (long time in Lagoon SXM)

BREAKING NEWS.
Super Maxi Baltic Yachts MY SONG (130 feet) has fallen off the cargo ship in the Mediterranean during transit on Saturday evening. She was being transported from the Caribbean to the Baleares.
Some info about "MY SONG"
The Baltic 130 My Song is a state of the art, multi-role custom super yacht combining performance and light displacement with a stunning contemporary interior providing an immensely comfortable cruising platform. Since the delivery in 2016 My Song has won several awards and was judged best yacht at World Super yacht Awards.

Naval architects Reichel/Pugh used the latest design programs to produce a seriously high-performance sailing yacht while Nauta Design was responsible for the overall styling, deck and interior design. My Song took 22 months to build and was launched on time despite design changes, modifications and the installation of a new propulsion system.
This all carbon yacht features interchangeable mainsails for cruising or racing and Baltic’s latest retractable propulsion system which rotates though 180 degrees to double as a stern thruster and a keel fin more akin to maxi race boat design. The Baltic 130 custom’s plumb bow and wide transom exploit the speed benefits of a long waterline and powerful stern sections to meet the owner’s demands for a really effective race boat.
The interior accommodation is for six to eight guests including the owner, the focal point being a spectacular deck saloon with hull and superstructure ports, plus skylights providing panoramic outboard views.
While being transported aboard a cargo, from the Caribbean to the Tyrrhenian Sea, the My Song, Baltic 130 (40 meters) of Pierluigi Loro Piana, fell into the sea: the accident occurred Saturday night, in the Mediterranean. The yacht was probably headed to Genoa and the event happened in the Gulf of Lion.

Its final destination would have been Porto Cervo, where My Song was supposed to take part in the Loro Piana Superyacht Regatta. The ship carrying the boat was Brattingsbord of the company Peters & May. My Song had an estimated value of around 30 million euros.

It happens more often than you think (just think of the amount of containers lost by freighters floating in the seas of the world and they are a danger for those who sail): in early 2019, a motor boat, a Monte Carlo Yachts 70, flew off the deck of the ship that was transporting him from Europe to Miami to the Florida boat show, and sank in the middle of the Atlantic.

My Song was launched in 2016. For the design Loro Piana (former owner of the company that bears his name called "king of Tasmanian" thanks to the leadership in the highest quality wool fabrics famous all over the world. Loro Piana is was sold in 2013 to the luxury multinational LVMH) turned to the combination that had already built its previous boat, Reichel Pugh and Nauta. The peculiarity of this maxi yacht, like all Pigi boats, is that they are used both on cruises and in regattas (winning!).

The water lines are from the Californian studio Reichel Pugh, all the rest is the work of the Milanese Nauta Design. The construction was entrusted to the Finnish Baltic Yachts. This maxi sailboat of 40 meters, the largest ever built by Nauta, is a concentrate of innovation and style. It is 39.62 long and 8.52 wide at the maximum beam, weighs only (!) 120 tons and has a retractable keel which weighs 30 tons, passing from a minimum draft of 4.80 m to 7.00 m. The highly sophisticated construction is in composite with abundant use of carbon. The propulsion was ensured by a 8,700 cc engine with 6 cylinders in line, the propulsion had a retractable system inside the hull.

RECORD NUMBERS
The impressive sail plan with 530 square meters of mainsail, 380 square meters of genoa and 1,300 square meters of gennaker allows thrilling performances worthy of a multihull. On paper, the new My Song reached a 16.5 knot speed when sailing, while in gliding it reached 28 knots. Other record numbers: the fuel tank has a capacity of 7,000 liters with an autonomy of over 450 hours of navigation (over 18 days!) And has 2,400 liters of water on board which combined with the watermaker made My Song, in theory, a boat that could sail without ever stopping in a port.

TURN THE WORLD "EASY"
To see, we can assure you, was beautiful. Among the particularities that we have been able to notice from the look from the quay: the huge aft deck and a trincarino (band leader) 30 cm high and as wide which serves as both a support point when the boat was skidded both by sitting in navigation or when boat was at a standstill. We were not on board the boat, but the project, which we peeked, included a bow area entirely reserved for the owner with a space for the office. Symptom that in the owner's idea there is the desire to make long, very long navigation's. With a boat, traveling the world like a sail would be like going to Milan by bicycle from home to the office.

Esprit de corps IV Holed And 'Sunk' Near Halifax..

Vessel ran aground on island after sail became caught in propeller.

Esprit de corps IV was coming back to Canada from Bermuda after sailing all races in Caribbean 2019 season, last race Antigua-Bermuda..

A group of three university students training on a Canadian Coast Guard zodiac rescued eight people from a sailboat that ran aground on an island near Lunenburg, N.S., early Wednesday morning.

Marc Ouellette, a regional supervisor with the Halifax Joint Rescue Coordination Centre, said the initial report came in at 3:20 a.m.

The 19½-metre sailboat drifted into Cross Island, near the entrance to Lunenburg harbour, after a sail went overboard and was caught in boat's propeller.

Ouellette said a Mahone Bay Inshore Rescue zodiac, which is used in a summer program to train university students to crew fast-rescue boats, was dispatched. Three students on board were able to rescue the eight crew members.

A tugboat called the Salvage Monarch was also on scene and the people rescued from the sailboat were transferred from the zodiac.

Bill Flower, who took photos of the boat after it ran ashore, identified it as the Esprit de corps IV.

"There was a significant hole on the starboard side of the vessel," Ouellette said. "So they abandoned and there was no attempt to re float the vessel."

The boat is still stranded on the island.

Ouellette said the recovery of the vessel is the responsibility of the owner, but the coast guard will monitor it from an environmental perspective.

And then...  'Pretty discouraging': Looters ransack sailboat that ran aground off Lunenburg (near Halifax)

Looters have ransacked the boat, stripping even ropes and shackles from the damaged vessel.
'I think it's way more heartbreaking to see that kind of behavior in these conditions than the accident'," said Maxime Grimard, skipper of the Esprit de Corps IV.

History Esprit de C IV
For the first edition of the round-the-world race under the Volvo brand, there was a real combination of European talents surrounding Amer Sports One Team.

The design of the yacht was attributed to German “Mani” Frers, and the construction began in La Ciotat, France, with the builder Composite Works. Adding two famous names of yacht building was to be a winning bet, based on differentiation, for the Italian-Finish consortium Amer Sports. Indeed, during this edition of the Volvo Ocean Race, 6 of the 8 yachts were signed by Farr Yacht Design.

Grant Dalton, a skipper from New-Zealand with already 4 participations in the Whitbread, was to lead the team. In his project around the world, he had the support of Paul Cayard, skipper and winner of the previous edition of race onboard EF Language.

Amer Sports One finished at the third place of the race, right behing Illbruck Challenge and Assa Abloy.

Half a decade later, the yacht is bought by Canadian skipper Derek Hatfield, who gives her a new name : Spirit of Adventure. At that time, and after 2 Velux Around the World Race with his IMOCA 60 Spirit of Canada, Hatfield was seeking to develop a race chartering company.

With this new yacht, Hatlfield participated in many races in Europe to North America with amateurs wanting to live the sensations of ocean racing.

In 2010, Hatfield even sets a new record for the Halifax to Saint Pierre Ocean Race, in 29h, 43min, and 56sec.
In 2016, the yacht is acquired by Gilles Barbot, and renamed Esprit de Corps IV. She was to be skippered by Derek Hatfield who joined the ambitions of Atlas Ocean Racing, but sadly, Hatfield passed away in July 2016.

Derek’s career remains a true source of inspiration for our team, and it’s with that spirit of boldness and sharing that we continue to sail on this true flagship of our fleet. Since 2017, our crew members join during winter time to take part in international races on this yacht.
